Greetings
CLICK
HERE for site news and updates.
Welcome to SOUL OF THE JEDI, a new Star Wars fan site that
hopefully has
something a little different to offer.
SOTJ is dedicated to the preservation, discussion, and perpetuation
of Star
Wars as envisioned and created by George Lucas. As a matter of
principle,
though the Expanded Universe, games, and other such is officially
licensed material, this site and its
supporters hold that only the films are canon. Our primary philosophy
is that the fans make the fandom,
that fan work has as much merit as (and in our hearts and minds, more
than) any so-called
"professional" work, and it is by the open sharing and supporting fan
efforts that that we keep
the fandom alive.
In light of the Prequel Trilogy, which tells of Anakin Skywalker and
sets
the stage for the situations we saw in the Original Trilogy, we
believe it is
time to revisit the "Magic of the Myth", to get back to what made the
saga
special in the first place, to re-discover the foundations of this
timeless
tale which has touched so many of us so deeply, and once again
champion what
separates this "modern fairytale" from the typical science fiction or
fantasy
offerings.
SOTJ is meant to be a haven for the fan who truly wants to enjoy this
fandom sans
the politically charged environments found elsewhere on the Internet.
If you want to
discuss slash, think that the Expanded Universe actually matters, or
revel in pictures or stories of characters in lewd situations, this
site is not for you.
However, if you are looking for a place for intelligent, in-depth
discussion of anything relating to
the saga, or where you can discuss, develop and share your fan
fiction or artwork in a supportive
environment, then welcome!
We hope that your visit is an enjoyable one. If you wish to contact
us, to give
us ideas, or to just say hello, simply click

New Chat Server Installed!
(Posted Friday, September 20, 2002 by Brat)
The
old chat was great, but there were problems with connections, and the
programmer is not updating it.
So, we had to switch to a new
program.
Of course, there are quirks (when aren't there?) but
overall things are running pretty well.
This chat runs best with
the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape. However, it seems
that the program behaves best with IE, so please be advised of this in
advance. We are having a couple of issues with IE 5.0 (i.e., problems
with autorefresh), and we are researching these now.
Mac
Users: For some reason, there are a few issues regarding Macintoshes
and web-based chat programs. From what I've been able to determine,
this is not unique to the new program, but is an ongoing issue. Mac
users are strongly encouraged to use the latest version of
Mozilla. To read more about Mozilla, or download the browser (which is
free), go
here. You will probably have a problem with autoscrolling of the
chat screen - this is something that Mozilla and the chat programmer are
aware of, and they are working to resolve this.
For the few
quirks, there are a lot of plusses - greater program security and
stability, more features including autologging of every chat in every
room. More and better features should be available in the new release of
this program, which should be coming in the next couple of months.
So,
go ahead and play with it. If there are any problems, please contact me
or AS-Mesarthim (SOTJ Chat Master).

Problem with Mail Servers - IMPORTANT!
(Posted Saturday, September 7, 2002 by Brat)
This
is especially important for those of you who have recently requested
registration to SOTJ:
It seems that certain mail servers do not
like our server, for whatever reason. Sometimes it takes DAYS for the
emails to bounce back to us. This has delayed registrants from
receiving confirmation of their registrations.
Until this
problem is permanently resolved, any registration emails that bounce
back will be resubmitted using our alternate address sotjteam@yahoo.com.
If you see email from this addy, it's simply me or other SOTJ staff
trying to contact you. It's NOT SPAM!
Any of you who have not yet
received a confirmation email were most probably affected by this
problem. We are currently resubmitting your registration through our
other address, and you should get it shortly.
In fact, just go to
the board and log in with the user ID and password that you submitted
for registration. You are most probably already activated ;-)
As
usual, if you have any problems or questions, please contact
me.

Jedi Bratzilla
